AQUA PLUS SOLVES AQUACULTURE AND SEA FARMING WOES

Aqua Plus brand is BioOrganic Plus (Phils), Inc. lasting solution to the unchecked destruction of the country's huge aquatic and marine resources. The product was developed as a counterfoil to the continued damage wreaked on the archipelagic waters of the Philippines.

Unabated flow of industrial and household wastes to fishponds and coastal waters has resulted in frequent outbreak of fish-kills caused by viruses, harmful bacteria, algae, fungi, rickettsiae and protozoan parasites.

Old technology used, and contuse to use, toxic chemicals and antibiotics to prevent and control these disease outbreaks. But the cures end up creating more problems. Antibiotics breed anti-biotic resistant strains. Pesticides and other chemical-based remedies kill the fishes and other marine lives as often as the disease-inducing organisms, All the artificial cures endanger the very health of people that eat the chemical-treated sea foods.

A new alternative, Aqua Plus, is applied to upgrade the water environment in fishponds and in fishpens and sea farms in near-shore waters by killing the harmful bacteria and viruses while helping multiply the helpful bacteria.

When used in fresh and brackish-water fish ponds and pens, Aqua Plus:

• Induces higher survival and growth rate
• Increases Average Body Weight (ABW) and better Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR)
• Improves dissolved oxygen for fishes not to choke to death
• Neutralizes the soil acidity of the pond bottom that allow fish food like algae to grow, and zooplankton to flourish
• Eliminates toxic gases in the water, prevents collapsed plankton build up

The Good Bacteria That Overcomes the Risk in Aquaculture and Marine Resources...

APPLICATION

1. Drain the pond.

2. Activate Aqua Plus at a rate of 2 liters/hectare.
* Pour Aqua Plus in a 20 liter pail filled with 1/3 fresh water. Slowly add pond water to the pail to acclimatize the microorganisms. Wait for a few minutes then pour the pail in a 200 liter drum filled with pond water and then add one kilo of brown sugar or molasses, stir and let it stand for 24 hours.

3. After totally draining the pond, spray or broadcast early in the morning the activated Aqua Plus on the entire pond bottom for the establishment of the beneficial microorganisms, decomposition of organic waste, and elimination of toxic gases.

4. After three days fill well-prepared pond with water to a depth of 10 cm then apply teaseed at 15ppm (15kg teaseed/hectare with water depth of 10 cm). The following day fill the pond to a depth of 1 m. Flushing is not needed.
* For faster production of natural foods (planktons) and elimination of snails, broadcast 1000 to 2000 kls.of chicken manure after teaseed application and let it stand for two days before pondfilling.
* Sodium Cyanide (sosa) is strictly not recommended for the elimination of predators as this will also kill the beneficial microorganisms.

5. For the initial seeding of the beneficial microorganisms in the pondwater, spray or broadcast early in the morning Aqua Plus on the entire pond surface, Follow step 2 but activate Aqua Plus at a rate of 4 liters/hectare.

6. After a week the pond is ready for stocking.
* Recommended stocking rate:
Prawns – 10,000-30,000 fry per hectare with 500 pcs. Of bangus fingerlings as aerators.
Tilapia – 30,000-60,000 fingerlings per hectare.
* After acclimatizing and before releasing the fry into the pond put a few drops of Aqua Plus in the plastic bags and wait for about 5 mins. Before releasing the fry.

7. A week after the initial seeding, apply Aqua Plus weekly till harvest. Follow step 2 but activate Aqua Plus at a rate of 1 liter/hectare instead.

8. In case the pondwater overflows due to flooding, repeat steps 5 and 7.

9. When using Aqua Plus zero-water exchange is practiced. Maintain only the water level during the culture period.
